ESSENCE VS TONER

With so many skincare products on the market it can become very confusing as to what each product actually does and if there is a difference between them. Many are still unaware of the difference between a Toner and Essence. People still have misconceptions as to its true purpose.
WHAT IS A TONER?
Toner contains hydrogen and oxygen. Depending on the toner, it also can contain acids, glycerin, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories. It looks like water and applies like water on the skin. It's a fast penetrating liquid that gives the skin instant hydration and helps remove dead skin cells. Think of it as the last step on your cleansing as it removes traces of impurities, oils and makeup.
You should use toner after you cleanse and exfoliate your skin. You can apply the toner with your hands or using a cotton pad. Most molecules penetrate the skin better when it is wet, so applying active ingredients immediately after cleansing delivers better results.

WHAT IS AN ESSENCE?
This product is a water like liquid just like a toner but the difference is an essence is designed to prepare the skin for all the skincare products. An essence is the hydrating layer that allows your skin to properly absorb all of your skincare products such as serum, and moisturizer. A facial essence may feel a bit more creamy compared to toner and contains higher levels of active ingredients, designed to penetrate deeper into the skin. Use an essence by placing a couple of drops into your palms and press the essence into your face until absorbed. The heat of your hands and gentle facial pressure can help the product to penetrate the skin. Do not use a cotton pad as a lot of the ingredients gets adsorbed by the cotton.
